My songs are very personal, as they reflect both my experiences of this world, and the emotion that drives me forward. I have experienced the life of a typical teenage girl going through her high school years and I articulate those experiences into song. Writing songs is my one and only way to fully express my thoughts. Just as a young girl confides in her diary, I confide in my guitar. I taught myself how to play the guitar, and I have been playing relentlessly for four years. I love performing locally and becoming involved in my community.
My biggest influences are the old fashioned country singers including Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, and Merle Haggard. I also admire modern artists including Shania Twain, Kellie Pickler, Miranda Lambert and even Taylor Swift. Though I am a country artist, I must confess to my secret obsession with 60s music - namely the Beatles! I am a huge fan of old music, and I listen to a majority of music on vinyl. Don’t ask me why, all I can say is that there is something magical about the clicking and popping just after you set the needle down on the record, and even how it sometimes skips, playing the same line over and over and over again.
Overall, as a composer of country music, I strive to preserve the true traditional essence of the genre, while still appealing to the modern country fan.
