A playful entity that criss-crosses back and forth from Sweden, Australia, Italy and finally touching back down in the UK, Yassassin’s magnetic musical paths and ambitions drew them to the capital and to each other. Having been friends for several years whilst all in different bands (The History Of Apple Pie, LUST, Bonfire Nights, Loaded), pushing and pulling their shared and separate loves into one project seemed like a natural next step. This is a pack mentality: name patches tacked to the back of jackets, doing the things they love best with the people they love best.
The band’s no filler, all killer formula is dynamically bulletproof. Inspired by a combined love of Le Tigre, PJ Harvey and The Breeders, Yassassin pride themselves on making energetic dance-on-the-table indie rock ‘n’ roll. Melodic, catchy pop perfection is personified through ramblingly loud guitars, trembling bass lines and drums that barge their way into your bones with or without your permission. Already having supporting the likes of Sleeper, Deap Vally, Ulrika Spacek, Virgin Kids, Sulk, Oscar, Hatcham Social Club and Pixie Geldof, Yassassin are on their way.
