Singer and songwriter Alexander Goy started the project in 2011 after the sudden and surprising death of his husband Markus.
Bassist Ushi Frei and drummer Basti Krämer have been constant members of the group since the beginning. That is why pounding basslines and playful beats frame the unique melody and create the very special vanGoy style.

After a phase of melancholic songs with influences of classical music and folk - ep “A” released in 2016 - vanGoy developed a more experimental alternative pop musical style.
The band loves performance art and trespassing musical boundaries. With the ep „Y“ released in July 2020 vanGoy shows their new artistic direction - looking forward to working on new music and performing their program on upcoming shows and festivals!
