The Black Proteus is a four-piece rock band as intense as their home city of Vienna: the guys originate from different countries, met at a posh Viennese coffee house and practice right next to a brothel.

Hailed as Song of the Week winners by Vienna’s biggest rock radio station 88.6, the band is working steadily towards a growing number of followers and has played at venues such as the legendary U4 where Falco, Nirvana, Prince and The Cure rocked the stage.

The Black Proteus burst onto the scene in 2018 with their explosive grungy alternative rock EP, We Meet Again. In 2022 they flipped the switch and embarked on a bold new direction with the release of their debut full length album, Loading..., which introduced a distinctive 8-bit rock sound that is simultaneously fresh and familiar.

The band is back with their latest song, Chasing Dreams, a hopeful tribute to ambition and the power of dreaming. This song won the top spot at the Radio Si music contest STANDOUTS, competing against 88 artists and 125 songs. With Radio Si's weekly reach of over 136 thousand international listeners, this victory further strengthens The Black Proteus' rising stature in the music scene.
