She started her musical career as a 19-year-old street musician, hitch-hiking all
over Europe for two years - back then solely armed with a guitar. Settling in Portugal for a
while she began to learn the accordion, which pretty soon became her trade-mark
alongside her distinctive voice and love for circus and bizarre outfits.
Now you could try to describe her music as „performative freak- to anti folk“ - but that
would hardly do justice to its poetry, light-heartedness, wildness, humour, depth, quirkiness
and beauty, whether it is Edelweiss performing on her own or with her chamber pop band
of strings. Poetry and pop and an avowal to the weird and wonderful are combined with a
delight in absolute autonomy. The result is an impressive synthesis of the arts.
Her first studio album „When I'm enlightened, everything will be better“ came out in 2019
and has led her to places such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
