21 Outs Where The Beatles carved out their slice of sky-high glory via an impromptu gig on top of the Apple headquarters, young indie-rock band 21 Outs had their moment of elevated fame when they took to the roof of the world-famous Swagman Bar in Sligo in 2013.

The comparisons end there for the moment, as 21 Outs are an Irish trio known for their corsucating rock and roll, and their groove-laden sound. Formed in 2010, the band are Philip Cassidy (guitar, vocals) with Keith Higgins (bass) and Omid Valizadeh (drums), who’s cheekily earnt the nick-name Persian Powerhouse.

21 Outs have honed their live music skills across countless gigs in Ireland, and have notched up shows with compatriots like The Coronas, The Rubber Bandits, Republic of Loose and more. And their rooftop gig wasn’t just a one off – lead singer Philip has been known to climb anything within reach, including bar counters and speaker stacks.

The boy knows how to put on a show. As do the band. Blending intense songwriting skills, soaring melodies and matching them with powerful grooves from the rhythm section, they create a remarkably full, spacious and dynamic sound for a trio, which in turn has led to sold out gigs across the country as the clamour for the band grows.

The future looks even brighter for the 21 Outs thanks to their new EP, ‘Your Day’. A departure from their 2010 debut album, it was mastered in LA by Grammy/Oscar award winning engineer Gavin Lurssen (QOTSA, Foo Fighters, Tom Waits, Robert Plant, The Who).

With a more Irish feel to their music, partly thanks to guest fiddle from Flat Out’s Mark O’Donnell, the band have looked inwards to their Irish roots, and in doing so, perhaps discovered their strongest sound yet.
