Tom showed a strong interest in music very early in his life. He was behind a drum set for the first time when he was 10 years old. Shortly afterwards he started to learn playing the guitar. At the age of 25 he started late playing the piano. An instrument that has an emotional interior like no other, so he says. A life without a piano would be inconceivable for him today. So if he was asked what he would take to a desert island, his answer would be very simple.
In 2017 Tom decided to produce music himself and founded Tom Ripples as well as the production studio Tom Ripples Records. Today his songs combine the sophistication and variety of sounds of classic oriented progressive rock with the rhythmic intensity of techno and the expressiveness of trance. This mix is paired with a wide variety of different and forceful instruments, which goes hand in hand with a good dose of pomp. Despite an appealing complexity and spaciousness, the individual parts of his songs, often underlaid with strong and driving bass, remain consistently melodic. The compositions offer every single instrument enough space for individual development. As a result, the songs often seem introverted and dreamy, but consistently follow a positive and fast pulse and forceful rhythmic melodies.
