Through the re-appropriation of a Moroccan cultural heritage and family roots, Lea Leïla Jiqqir [vocals, buzuq, guitar & percussions] mixes up darija-speaking poetry, her paternal language, with the acid arpeggios and rippling layers of Romain Henry’s synthesizers. Influenced by their relative music backgrounds, Taxi Kebab’s members shape their sound without any genre & geography restrictions. Analog & electronic ethereal acid instrumentals, sometimes on the edge of techno and transe, cyclical melodies driven by the buzuq, and a raw electric guitar pave the way to a mix of heritages and materials with no measures, in a nearly improvisation.
Revealing some disordered identities fragments, Taxi Kebab’s music is a night ride through landscapes into a rough and psyche sound, disoriented and disoriental.
After their 1st single « Lmchi w Rjou3 », released in May 2019, and 2 years of tour, the duo is finalizing a first LP.
