Drops | EP | 2017 |
The first months of 2017 were divided between studio, composing, and stages (Sofar Sounds, Lisbon Dance Festival, etc) to test and to improve the new compositions. Whoever watches refers to Dillon, James Blake or iamamiwhoami as a kind of sound angels, but the main reference is that LINCE makes us discover its own atmosphere, in which the electronic is masterly weighted with the sensitivity and the emotion that the words and Sofia's voice dictates in LINCE.
On the subject of "Drops" Sofia refers: "This EP is a first meeting with songs I composed in recent years, a first expression of what I’ve been developing musically." And continues "although these five pieces have arisen at different times and aren’t, in sonic terms, identical, I feel that there is something that binds them, most probably the voice and piano."
Listening to the songs that comprise "Drops" is evident an apparent dichotomy between emotions and sensations, between tunes with a danceable path and other with contemplative sonorities, between dialogues and monologues, created on musical bases that cause us both inertia and movement.
The EP was recorded and mixed by João Bessa and featured the production of André Tentúgal and Sofia herself who was also responsible for the composition of the songs.
"Drops" is the first falling of sounds and words emerging from LINCE
