Tenor and soprano saxophonist Karim Rome was nourished on Jackie McLean's legacy through the alto legend's own son, Rene McLean, who imparted to Rome his father's unique perspectives on jazz history and on music from Africa.

These have palpably had an impact on this pensive, searching composer and soloist who is steadily forging a strikingly original sound. In addition to performances with American jazz masters such as Jimmy Heath and Curtis Fuller, Rome has appeared in festivals throughout the world with the likes of Senegal's Orchestra Baobab and Morocco's Hassan Hakmoun. He is currently seeking new opportunities as a leader in Europe.
