ENGLISH
HATTLER, awarded the Echo Award for jazz in 2001, unites four leading heads of the German jazz&electronica scene:
HELLMUT HATTLER (Tab Two, Kraan),
TORSTEN DE WINKEL (New York Jazz Guerrilla, Pat Metheny Group, Bimbache openART),
OLI RUBOW (DePhazz, Fantastische Vier, Netzer),
and German-Nigerian vocalist FOLA DADA
meet under the direction of the group's name giver, one of the few German electric bassists recognized internationally since the 1970s for his unique style and technique, and an artist who has successfully managed to rejuvenate and reinvent himself decade after decade without ever losing his highly recognizable artistic signature.
Tina Turner is among those who have coming knocking for his composer and producer skills, and as one half of Tab Two, he won the German Jazz Award for most of the project's 9 CDs. Torsten de Winkel, back as Hattler's congenial partner after 15 years in New York and frequent collaborations with an astonishing list of Grammy Award winners, was also part of all of Tab Two's recordings. Their successful collaboration dates back as far as to the 1980s when they produced Germany's first and critically acclaimed jazz-meets-computers project "Humanimal Talk".
PETE DELGADO's improvised visuals and DANIEL STAEMMLER's electronic sound processing form an integral part of HATTLER's multimedia performance.
