Free-spirited, unconventional and eccentric are just a few ways you could describe South African born artist, Mia Monroe.

Her signature sound is a blend of driving Techno and smooth Tech-House. Monroe has wide-ranging roots that include deep bass lines with organic instrumental sounds.

Growing up, Monroe was influenced by modernist classical music but soon discovered a love for House music. Along with an appreciation for funky house, speed garage, hard house, acid jazz and trance, Monroe’s background paints a colourful scope of knowledge in the music scene. Monroe decided to further her knowledge and career in the music industry, mastered the decks and was soon given the opportunity to play at esteemed nightclubs around South Africa.

In 2011, Monroe moved to London where she started playing at Giglum Silent Disco and went on to play with some world renowned artists like Michael Woods, Morgan Page, Nicky Romero, Marco V, Kayu & Albert, Lisa Lashes, My Digital Enemy, Ferry Corsten and Aly & Fila just to name a few. A highlight in Monroe’s career saw her playing back to back with Lee Yeomans at esteemed London nightclub, Ministry of Sound for Mark Knight’s Toolroom Knights.

Monroe’s career has taken her to New York, Miami and Vegas where she got to understand and experience the US electronic dance scene. 2015 see’s Monroe furthering her knowledge and career in the music industry by studying music production and sound engineering through Soul Candi. She’s started London underground ‘The Movement’ parties and see’s this artist growing from strength to strength in the right direction.
